Reviews
Love this place! So much space and a parking lot! The interior has so many separate seating areas that give the space a cozy feel. Lots of people studying/working here, but also great hangout place. Didn’t love the Pat Bing Su (a weird combination of toppings), but overall still love this place.
Thursday evening, there were lot of people.
Staffs were kind but not enough manpower to serve many customers.
Old style interiors.
I was at the outdoor table, and steel chair without cushion.
Food was not bad.
I saw a water bug during sitting, though.
This place is gold. You never have to worry about parking because they have their own parking lot in the back and everytime I’ve come here during the week there’s always spots. Other cafes in ktown with parking seem to always be filled. The cafe is really big with tons of seating inside, PLENTY of outlets, it’s meant to provide an environment for you to go in and sit and do work or study. Perfect for usc / LA college students, for young professionals or for meeting friends and catching up. The food is okay, I’ve had the chicken avocado and chicken pesto sandwich / wrap on two different occasions and the portion sizes were enough for me as I am small but it may be a bit pricey for the portion or others. But they present it well, and the strawberry matcha and black sesame latte were both really good. I just love the seating situation also, you seat yourself and each table has a doorbell where you ring. The interior is cute and trendy and it deserves five stars for the environment. Would highly recommend coming here to get work done or to study. The waiters are super respectful and kind. The area surrounding it isn’t the safest but it’s good they have their own parking lot.
Had a wonderful lunch with friends at this place. We ordered a variety of dishes including tonkatsu, spaghetti and meatballs, spicy rice cake, and a vegetarian option. The tonkatsu surpassed all expectations with its incredible flavor, and the accompanying miso soup was a perfect complement. Although the spicy rice cake could have been spicier for those accustomed to heat, it still offered an enjoyable taste, especially for those who prefer milder flavors. While the spaghetti and meatballs were decent, they didn't leave a lasting impression.
What truly impressed me about this place was its welcoming atmosphere for work or study. The abundance of outlets near the seating areas is a major convenience for anyone needing to plug in their devices. The ambiance is conducive to a focused environment, making it an ideal spot for productivity. It's worth noting that if you're planning a lunch outing with friends, it's best to be considerate of others and maintain a quieter volume.
Love coming here to write, such a cozy and nice vibe. But it’s so expensive here! I got a coffee and fried and it was almost $20 with the included tip!
I’d recommend to anyone that’s able to afford it. It’s an expectation to order something and to not bring in your own food either, otherwise they’ll charge you $5
Oct-2023, today we ordered saved red bean ice, 팥빙수, the taste was terrible and it gave me stomachache and food poison. I keep going restroom..terrible. My friend eating together had the same issue!! Goo place to talk, but horrible food experience. The red bean and fruit might be old... OMG!
5 yr ago: Best place to study and hangout by myself and with friends. Good drinks. Have not tried meals yet.
Today was my first time visiting and I was very impressed. It's not fancy. It's cozy and peaceful. A little soft music in the background and warm lighting. Came alone, but I plan to return with friends in the future. I recommend it. 👍
Cafe Mak is a popular cafe for students to chill and do their work, get some drinks, snacks, or a whole meal. It can get pretty full as there’s a school across the street. Today they had slow service with the bell system. We rang and waited like 4 times until a waitress came to take our order.
The tonkatsu was pretty good: juicy, crispy, and fatty. The tonkatsu sauce was also good. Everything else falls off. The rice was over cooked and dry. If your rice is not fresh, then fluff it up before scooping it out the rice cooker. The coleslaw didn’t have much dressing, but that’s pretty normal for chopped cabbage though. It’s chopped cabbage to go with the katsu. I don’t know why the miso soup was so insanely terrible.why is it so salty? Instant miso soup is better than this. It tastes like someone poured soy sauce into it. And then there’s not much in the bowl, just half :( It’s all pretty small, I’ve ordered this before and there used to be more. I don’t expect another cut of meat, but more cabbage or rice can really help to inflate the plate.
I was still hungry so I ordered the garlic brick toast. It was on the menu but they’re known for their honey brick toast which is topped with honey, whipped cream, chocolate syrup and cocoa pebbles. I was confused on what the garlic option was and it seemed that the waitress was too. She didn’t know what I wanted and then when I showed her the menu I think she just wanted to satisfy my order? What came was actually the honey brick toast with garlic and butter added on top. It’s weird but not terrible, I’m not sure why it’s on the menu. The brick toast is great! It’s fresh white bread topped with tons of sweets. Be aware: it’s pretty big and the bottom pieces are a little hard to cut apart, but other than that it’s a tasty treat.
